First round's over...we've already had a guy getting skipped for taking too long, an owner quit, and a guy named Spinler (who may or may not just be Lester pretending to have a RL friend) is in the league, even though I'm pretty sure I never saw him actually post to the Commons...ever.
Here's how I break it down:
Best Pick - Considering the scoring, you've got to love Peyton Manning first overall. HOWEVER, as my dancing darkie friend Stephen A would say, Priest Holmes is the best player in fantasy football and he's had two of his last 3 seasons cut short due to freak injuries. I project over 2000 total yards and 20 TDs from Priest, making him the MVP of the fantasy galaxy. Getting him fourth overall gives you the best pick in the first round. Check out the big brain on Brad!
Worst Pick - Billster usually beats me in fantasy sports (except football and last year's baseball league, when his players kept finding hysterical ways to get injured...and I don't really care about fantasy NBA, so I don't count that either), but I really don't know what he's getting at with Ahman Green. I've got Deuce, Edge, Rudi, Jamal, even Kevin Jones as better picks right now. The way Sherman completely abandons the run when the Packers trail (and they're going to trail a LOT this year, with the NFC's worst defense), the big trouble on the offensive line, and the fact that Green's skills diminished last year (he only scored in THREE GAMES!) make this pick a bona-fide head scratcher.
- Strangest Pick - It's gutsy taking a wideout at 7th overall, especially considering it's a proven scientific fact that nobody who's ever taken Randy Moss in the first round of a fantasy football league has ever gone on to win that league's championship, ever. Luke's got the stones to do it, and he's a crafty enough guy that I think he can overcome the locker room cancer and win MORE than 3 games. Can't wait for the Randy Moss/Kerry Collins showdowns this year, though...especially after Randy hears Kerry muttering the N-word like he used to do at Penn State and in Carolina (before Muhsin Muhammad slapped him in front of all the offensive linemen @ a team party).
Sleeper Pick -
- Tough to really pick a sleeper in the first round of a draft, but it seems to me that touchdowns matter a lot more than yards in this league, especially for runningbacks. Therefore, you've got to love a guy like Domanick Davis (especially since Len mocked my selection of him in the 2nd round last year), who finds the end zone by any means necessary and will apparently become a larger part of the passing game this year. If Dom can manage to stay healthy, he might be a top 5 back in this scoring system.

i'll break down round two when it's all said and done
